Tommy, Will, Larry, and Earl -- March 1, 2021

Aloha!!

On Tuesday I was in Maui getting ready to come to Kauai. We went to the airport THREE times on Tuesday either saying bye to missionaries or welcoming them in. Man the workers there probably hate missionaries.🤦‍♀️

I got to Kauai on Wednesday and oh my goodness it is beautiful here!! I thought that Oahu was my favorite Island, then I thought Lanai was, then I thought Maui was, and now I think that Kauai is haha. They're all beautiful in different ways. Sister Larson and I are kind of white washing but kind of not. We live together and kind of don't know what we're doing. But Sisters Thomas and Wilson are in the same ward as us which is honestly hard. It can be confusing, but we're figuring it out.

Sisters Thomas and Wilson are super fun! They come up with boy names to call all of the sister's so I'm Earl, Sister Larson is Larry, Sister Wilson is Will, and Sister Thomas is Tommy. Haha kind of weird but it works I guess. We week plan with them which is fun. We did a zone flood in our area on Thursday which was my first zone flood! So all of the missionaries in our zone go to one area and visit a bunch of people.

We live in a small house behind the Uhl family and it is boujee! They are the best family ever and they take really good care of us. Their kids are so cute and fun and it just feels like a big family here. We went there for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Our ward mission leader and his family, the Herr's, are also the best! He's definitely the best ward mission leader I've had so far on my mission. He takes his calling super seriously and he is awesome. His kids are around our age and their super fun!! We visited our Bishop who is just as awesome too!!

I'm back to doing car washes every Saturday which I missed so much!! The only thing is that there are way more Elders than sisters and they like to soak us with the water....and let me tell you we ain't in Oahu anymore haha. Honolulu is so hot so we wanted to get wet but Kauai rains a lot and it gets cold. So one Elder got me all soaking wet and I was cold lol.

We are back to two hour church on Kauai with singing!!!!! The restrictions here are pretty chill. Things are honestly back to normal. The only thing is that you have to wear a mask in the stores, restaurants, etc. We don't have to wear masks outside which is super nice!!

I made a new friend this week from online proselyting which was great. She actually lives in Htown in Manoa which was my first area! Super crazy. It feels good to be able to do some normal missionary work again. I absolutely LOVE it here and I can't wait for this transfer!

I hope that everyone has a great week!! Don't forget to send me emails/pictures about things going on in your lives. :) Ofa atu!! 💙

3 hour layover in Htown called for some Starbucks🥝

Bad pic but look at how blue the water is 🤩🤩 This is when I landed in Honolulu and you can see Diamondhead too.

The Uhl's gave us the prettiest flowers when we got here. Their daughter Ellie made the note. Love them!!

Okay Kauai 😍

Beach Park in Maui with A TON of sea turtles!! It was so cool!! There's one in the water if you look close enough:)

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...

We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!! Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him. So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but m...
