We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!!

Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him.

So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but my companion is SISTER LARSON FROM H-TOWN!!!!! I Love her SO much!! The two other sisters we're working with us are Sisters Wilson and Thomas who are also SO AMAZING. I'm very excited.

Transfers here are an absolute headache, especially with COVID. I'm so grateful for our AP's and office missionaries for handling everything...We're going to Maui today and then Sister Gamil will fly to Oahu for departing activities. I will be on Maui until Wednesday...hopefully. I need to get a COVID test tomorrow and then I'll hopefully be on my way Wednesday..🤞🏻

Saying goodbye to members was so hard. We had one last dinner with President Fernandez last night. We didn't want to leave, haha. But he told us, "We say a hui hou not aloha oe." A hui hou means until we meet again. And I will be back here:) President Fernandez is also going to give us Hawaiin names!! He said that he needs to pray and think about our names because it's actually really serious. So that's pretty cool.

If Lanai has taught me anything, it's to trust in God. I had to do that every single day here. The work is super hard and lonely on Lanai. But again, I learned so much and I wouldn't have traded this transfer for anything. My testimony was strengthened and I met awesome people who I will never forget. Anyways. Crazy stuff. Well, I have to go pack and do laundry...and our dryer is broken so that will be interesting. 🙃 Oh man please send prayers so I'm not so stressed hahahaha.

Love you all!! Have a great week! ♥️♥️

Some pics of the members (most members are stopping by later today so I'll send more pics next week:))

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...
