The Way Of Aloha 🌲 -- February 15, 2001

Aloha!!

This week was awesome! Maui was great! We were able to attend district and zone council in person which was nice too. The work really started to pick up this week with the members! We had more member lessons than normal. So we were able to get out of the pad more! One family actually just got baptized not too long ago. We went over for family home evening which was great. The mom, Daja, called us a few days after our visit and asked for two Book of Mormons!! She's been talking about our church with some friends. So we were able to bring her some Book of Mormons that she'll write her testimony in and give to them. We're super excited for them!!

We went to President Fernandez's house twice this week again...we love going there and he loves feeding us haha. But we did have MCM with him one of the days too. The members fed us A LOT this week which we are super grateful for. The members here are so awesome.

Transfers are next week already. So crazy! I know a little bit about what's going down next transfer but I'll wait to tell everyone next week because some missionaries in the mission get my emails lol.

I started reading a book called "The Way Of Aloha Lanai" by Cameron C. Taylor. The author served his mission in Hawaii in the late 1990's. He did a devotional for our mission my first week in quarantine too. He wrote a series of books about his experiences on each Island he served on. It's so funny reading his book because I can relate to everything. He talks about the pad that we live in now, the avocado tree behind the church, the members, and so much more. It's so crazy hearing him talk about the members who are still here today. He baptized Randy Fernandez who is President Fernandez's brother. We know Randy well and see him every week. It's so crazy haha. But it's a super good book and I realte to him so much which is nice.

I want to testify of my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that He died for each one of us and I know that He lives. I know that His hand is always stretched out to help us. I love him and am so grateful for Him and Heavenly Father.

I hope that everyone has a great week!! Thanks for all of the love and support! Much Aloha! 🤙🏼❣

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...

We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!! Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him. So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but m...
