Maui Day 🗻🐳 -- February 8, 2021

Aloha!!

This was probably one of the slowest weeks of my mission. 😂 Sister Gamil kept talking about how fast the week was going and I was like oh my heavens no this has been the slowest week ever. Haha but we did it! It's a new week!

For pday last Monday, the Kawasaki's took us around the Island! You can see all of the Islands here except for Kaui and another small Island. They took us to shipwreck Beach which is BEAUTIFUL!! We saw sea turtles and spent some time at the beach. They drove us around to some different sites which was cool too. Then we drove to the other side of the Island and I got super sick, haha. If you know me then you know that I get motion sick pretty easily. Well Hawaii is not good for people with motion sickness because all of the roads are super windy. We ate dinner and watched the sunset at the beach down by the bay, and oh my gosh it was insane! They showed us the spot where they baptize people here and it is so beautiful.

Some members took us to a cat sanctuary on Thursday..Sister Gamil LOVES cats! I don't particularly love cats, but they're alright. But I do have lots of claw marks all over my arms and legs from them, haha. Some of them were cute and some were not as cute or nice. I also found out that I'm a little allergic to cats...I've been around cats my entire life and have been fine. But I was around lots of cats and I did touch my eyes after petting them and stuff haha.

We are on our way to Maui right now! We will be in Maui until Wednesday morning. Now I know why our mission spends so much money...they pay for all of the missionaries to travel so much haha. We were going to do a "Maui day." So the two zones on Maui were going to spend Pday together. But it didn't work out for the other zone, but our zone will spend the day together which will be fun! We're going to hangout, eat lunch, and then go to Haleakala again. Our zone leader and Sister Gamil leave this transfer so Elder Marshall wanted to go one last time. It snowed on Haleakala last week, so there might even be snow! We'll see.

One thing that I was thinking about a lot this week is the power of prayer! We watched The Cokeville Miracle last week, which was also my first time watching it. Again, I cried like a baby haha. But it strengthened my testimony of prayer. God does hear and answer prayers, and I know that is true. We also had the opportunity to fast yesterday. Our branch was fasting and praying to know how to minister in unusual ways. I know that God will answer our prayers, and he already has given us some revelation. I'm so grateful for prayer and I know that the power of prayer is real. I've seen countless blessings and miracles that have come from prayer.

I love you all and hope that you have a great week!! The church is true! ❣

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...

We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!! Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him. So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but m...
