Kill em with kindness -- October 26, 2020

  🎃🕷ALOHA 🕷🎃

As always, this week has been awesome!
Last Pday we went to the mall here called Ala Moana. Apparently it's one of the biggest and most expensive malls like ever...it was pretty cool haha. I bought more than I probably should have...but they were all things that I needed. 😏😂

Today we are celebrating Sister Brown's birthday! Surprise we are going on another hike with the AP's today..jk not a surprise. We're hiking to a light house so I'll send those pics next week. We're also going to a restaurant called Teddy's. It's going to be an awesome P day!

Monday night I wasn't feeling super great. We had a member lesson with the Alo family in our ward. After our lesson, the Alo's said that they wanted to bring us dinner and they did. The members here are hands down the best. They brought us McDonald's. I know it sounds dumb, but I really needed the coke that they brought me. 😂 I felt so much better after drinking some caffeine. It's kind of silly, but that was a tender mercy that night for sure.

This week was transfer week so Tuesday and Wednesday were a little crazy. We had four elders from H-town go home so that was pretty sad. We took Sister Hill to the airport to fly to Maui on Tuesday as well. We have Sister Uhi living with us for two weeks while her new missionary is in quarantine too!! We love Sister Uhi!!! She went to Hunter High School, and I danced with a lot of the girls who went to Hunter. So we know a lot of the same girls and I even danced with her best friend!

On Wednesday we met with two new friends, Sylvia and Zach. They're both Christians and they love to talk. We had good conversations with both of them and will meet again. We made cookies and brought them to part member families on Wednesday night as well.

I started driving in Hawaii this week..I don't like driving in Utah so I definitely don't like driving here. 😆 I swear there are only one way streets in this place, the street lights are different, Hawaii is very hilly, people drive crazy, and we have a Tiwi in our car so we have to drive real careful. And the speed limit is 25 mph pretty much everywhere 🙄 so I can get a little impatient. Even on the freeway the speed limit is 45 mph. But we're still alive, so I guess I'm driving alright.

I heard that it's been snowing in Utah..it's been a bit cold here too. About 79 degrees instead of the usual 85 or 90.😏😂 I'm sorry I had to. I'm glad to be here right now because I do not miss being out in the snow. But for real it is raining a lot, it's rainy season here.

For my spiritual thought, I want to talk about loving everyone. Race, ethnicity, gender, religion, political beliefs, etc. it just doesn't matter. Love them. You don't need to agree, but you can still love. Even if they're Utes fans. We have to love them too.💙 We all see so much hate and ugliness in this world and it's so sad. Remember that hate comes from Satan, not Jesus Christ or Heavenly Father. It's a commandment to love one another no matter what. We need more love and kindness to spread to people. Please be nice, talk to people, give compliments, and serve others. Don't judge people. God is the jude, not us. Simply love people, it'll make your life so much better I promise!

I've been in Hawaii for over a month now..what the heck. If you would have told me two years ago that I would be serving a mission right now, I would tell you that you're crazy haha. I never thought that I'd be here, but I'm so glad that I am! I love Hawaii, I love Sister Israelsen, I love my family, I love my friends (I love my friends by Foster the People is a good song btw, lol), I love this gospel, and I love my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Have an awesome week everyone! I love you all! Ofas! 🤙🏼💜

Saying bye to Sister Hill 😥

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...

We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!! Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him. So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but m...
