It's a metaphor -- Novemberrr 2, 2020

Aloha and Happy November! 🧡

I am very sorry about the blank email I sent the other day..I have no clue how that even happened. 😬😂

So imma just jump right into the title of the email lol. So last Tuesday we were with Sister Uhi and she's over the Tongan ward. We met with two people that night. The first family was awesome. We taught them about the plan of salvation. I don't know much about them because they're not in my ward, but it went well.

Then...we visited Peni. I had been warned about Peni lol. Sister Uhi and Sister Israelsen told me that he was very nice but that he was a basher. He lives on good old date street so we went in and the ward mission leader was also there. Peni is a really cool surfer dude. He loves the bible but he interprets it differently than we do, which is the problem. Long story short he basically just argued everything that we said. We went in to teach him about the commandments and that did not happen.

Peni started asking about how God could have created billions of spirits and how that's possible. Sister Israelsen started talking to him a little bit about Heavenly Mother. She bore an amazing testimony. Well Peni looks like he's about ready to die as she's speaking. He looks at Sister Israelsen and says, "That is evil blasphemy and you need to repent." But he said it pretty aggressively. I wanted to laugh my head off..I was holding it together until Sister Uhi starts laughing and then I couldn't help it. So I needed to repent of that one for sure haha.

We were at his house for TWO hours and we were done. We were hungry, mentally and physically exhausted from Peni's thoughts, and he just wouldn't even listen to what we said at all. At the end of the "lesson" Sister Uhi tells Peni to "put it to the test" and pray to know the truth. Well Peni didn't like that and asked what he needed to put to the test. I could tell that Sister Uhi was just over it and as sassy as she possibly could she goes, "It's a metaphor. It's not literal it's just a saying." And I started laughing again because it was hilarious. So I needed to repent of that one too. I feel awful for laughing but I literally couldn't help it.😂 Afterwards Peni tells us he is going to buy us food which happens every time they meet. So then we went to a restaurant called Zippy's which was SO good. He paid and then left..Sister Uhi plans on dropping him because he believes that he knows the truth and that we don't. He's met with missionaries for nine months and has made no progress so there's really nothing that we can do.

This week was great! We taught a few part member families again. We met with Sylvia and did a virtual tour of the Laie Temple! For Halloween we went to the Mataele's for dinner. Sister Matele literally called President Walker and asked if we could stay longer. So we got to be out until 7. We played games on zoom after dinner with the mission which was SO fun!! We all made videos to Halloween songs and they were hilarious. I'm gunna try to send ours to everyone because it's awesome.

For a spiritual thought I want to talk about finding places or ways to feel the spirit and to feel God's love for you. I LOVE the ocean. Most people know that I love mermaids, dolphins, turtles, etc. I was lucky enough to be called to two missions with an ocean. Heavenly Father knew that I needed it. I feel the most peaceful when I look at the ocean. I could watch it all day long. When I look at the ocean all I can think is that there is absolutely no way that God isn't real. There's no way that the ocean is just that blue, powerful, and beautiful. Every time I look at the ocean the spirit tells me that God is real and that he loves me. That's one of the reasons why I love the ocean so much. I encourage all of you to find a place that helps you to feel the spirit and to feel of God's love for you. Take time to feel peace and to feel that love because it is real. I know that God loves each and every one of us. Have a great week everyone!! Ofas!

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...

We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!! Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him. So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but m...
