Choose your hard ⛱🌴 -- December 14, 2020

Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka!

This week was pretty slow. We had quite a few lessons cancel on us so that was a bummer. On Tuesday, Sister Isralesen wasn't feeling good so we stayed home all day just to be safe. So we did lots of contacting, cleaning, and decorating for Christmas.

We went to the swap meet at the Aloha Stadium on Saturday which was so fun! They have a ton of cheap souvenirs. Our Pday will be cut short today so we got permission to go to the swap meet for a little bit. We have zone conference tonight so that's why it was cut short.

Sister Israeslen and I locked our keys in our trunk on Saturday...we were with Sisters Brown and Rothwell doing some finding. We were in their area, Hawaii Kai, which is about 20 minutes away from us. Sister Isralesen put the keys in the trunk and walked away. I didn't know our keys were in the trunk so I shut it..and yeah. Luckily Elders Reed and Ten Bosch came in clutch and grabbed the spare key from the office and brought it to us.

Rafael is doing great! We talked to him about the word of wisdom and he already keeps it! He's basically a golden investigator. He is ready to be baptized. He's still trying to decide if he wants to move or not. Michael canceled our lesson this week because he was busy. But we should meet this week!

Not gunna lie, this week was a little hard!
I've been thinking a lot about my mission and how long it seems! I started getting overwhelmed when I thought about how long I'll be away from home. But one day our great AP Elder Hicken was talking about being fit (he's a marine so he's super fit). He said, "being overweight is hard. But being fit is hard so choose your hard." And I started thinking about that a lot. Life is hard, it's supposed to be. We don't grow if it isn't hard. So I started thinking, being on a mission is hard. But being home going to school and working is hard and it was hard when I did it last year. So what's my hard? It's being here serving a mission. I encourage you guys to think about that. A lot of the time we have decisions to make that are all hard decisions. But think about what the best decision is that will push you and make you grow. Anyways. I love and miss you all! Have a great week!! Ofa atu! 💚❤

The rains came down, and the floods came up 🌧☔-- March 15, 2021

Aloha!! This week was kind of crazy...it was a hard week. I'm not sure if you all saw, but Hawaii had severe rainfall and floods this week on all of the Islands. It was scary. We drove a lot this week and I thought for sure we'd get into an accident a few times because of the rain. Two men even died on Maui from a landslide. Crazy stuff.  The weather made us hecka depressed so that was kind of hard. We taught Lacey and Laylynn again on Friday! Lacey asked if Laylynn can get baptized in May..of course we said yes haha. But we're a little concerned because we think that Lacey just wants to baptize her just to baptize her. Clearly we want her to be baptized and converted to the church, not just baptized just because. Laylynn does not want to be baptized either. So it's a work in progress. Honestly, not much happened this week because of the weather.  We did meet with a couple in our ward, the Brown's. They were the Mission President and wife of the Alpine, Germany miss...

We say "a hui hou" not "Aloha oe" -- February 22, 2021

Aloha!! Well, I am being transferred off Lanai...and I'm going to KAUAI!! I found out last Sunday that I would be leaving Lanai. President Walker said he woke up in the middle of the night and had a distinct impression that I needed to be somewhere else. I was not expecting that at all! I was told that I was going to be on Lanai for a while. I was actually excited to stay in Lanai because the work started progressing. But they're sending two awesome Filipino Elders over. One of the Elders coming, Elder Obando, has already served on Lanai for seven months and he's coming back ahaha. But he's awesome and the members here love him. So, we figured that I'd be going to Big Island because a ton of Sisters are leaving there..so I figured I'd go there or to Maui. But I was not expecting Kauai at all because they just put new sisters there. It's kind of interesting because there will be four of us sisters serving in the same ward. So we're kind of in a quad but m...
